PRIVACY NOTICE

What we collect, and why.

This notice covers the data Cyber Hackathon 2026 collects through registration, team formation, video submission and the Grand Final.

What we collect

Account details (name, email, mobile number), academic profile details (institution, eligible degree details), a College/University ID and a passport photo per participant, individual GitHub handles, your team's repository details, and the Google Drive video link your team submits.

Your mobile number is collected for contact purposes only - it is never verified by SMS, and no SMS code path exists anywhere in the portal.

Why we collect it

To verify student eligibility, form and manage teams, communicate deadlines and announcements, screen submitted videos, announce the shortlisted teams, coordinate the online Grand Final, and evaluate submissions.

How it's protected

Documents are never served from a public URL - every file is accessed through an authenticated endpoint with a per-purpose access policy limited strictly to you, your teammates, and the organizers. Passwords are hashed, never stored in plain text. Uploaded documents are not manually reviewed or approved upon upload; your team's declaration at final submission carries that accountability. Video deliverables shared via Google Drive are accessed solely by the evaluation panel (hackathonccsubihar[at]gmail[dot]com).

Who can see what

Your team's public presence (if shortlisted or awarded) displays only your team name, member names, institution, and project title. Your email, mobile number, uploaded College ID, photo, and GitHub handle are never made public. Full details remain visible only to you, your registered teammates, and the hackathon organizers.

Retention

Event data and submissions are retained strictly for the operational, audit, and reporting needs of Cyber Hackathon 2026, including issuing participation certificates. Requests to review, correct, or remove personal records can be submitted to the organizing team through the in-portal support desk or official contact channels.
