THE GROUND RULES
Bring your team. Bring your integrity.
A level playing field for everyone building on the frontier.
Rules at a glance
Who can take part
- Teams of 3–4 members. At least one female member is encouraged.
- Open strictly to students currently enrolled in a recognized college or university in India.
- One team and one problem statement per team. Choose a unique team name.
- Every member must verify their email and upload a College ID.
How you’ll build
- Your team leader creates one private GitHub repository named after your team and adds every team member as a collaborator, using the verified GitHub username each member saved on the portal.
- Develop your solution on your own systems, following the published guidelines. Commit iteratively - final code dumps are disqualified.
- Submit an explanation and demo video of 8–10 minutes maximum: host it on your team’s own Google Drive, shared (Viewer access) with hackathonccsubihar[at]gmail[dot]com, and submit its URL on the portal before the submission deadline.
- A working webcam, microphone and stable internet are mandatory for every participant in the grand final.
Your team repository
Your team leader creates one private GitHub repository named after your team and adds every team member as a collaborator, using the verified GitHub username each member saved on the portal.
The repository is named after your team: the team name in lowercase, with any punctuation replaced by a single hyphen. For example, a team called Byte.Busters uses byte-busters.
- 01The team leader creates the repository on their own GitHub account and sets it to private.
- 02The leader adds every team member as a collaborator, using the verified GitHub username each member saved on the portal.
- 03Build your solution there and commit iteratively - a single final code dump leads to disqualification.
Shortlisted teams transfer ownership of the repository to the organisers before the Grand Final, so the judges can review the source code and commit history.
Participant Guidelines and Rules
01Eligibility Criteria
- Participation is open strictly to students currently enrolled in a recognized college or university in India.
- Every registered team member must upload a valid college/university ID card during registration for eligibility verification. Submitting an ID for only the Team Leader is not acceptable.
- Participation in Cyber Hackathon 2026 is completely free of charge; there are no registration, entry, or evaluation fees.
- Providing false or misleading information will result in disqualification.
02Team Formation and Registration
- Each team must consist of 3–4 members, including one designated Team Leader.
- Teams are encouraged to include at least one female team member.
- The team leader must register on the official portal, add all team members, verify their email IDs, complete their profiles, and submit their GitHub handles and college IDs. Once verified, members can reset their passwords and log in with read-only access.
- Strict Single-Team Rule: A participant may only join one team, and each team can only select one problem statement. Once locked, team rosters and problem statement selections cannot be altered.
- Registration opens on 12 October 2026 and closes on 26 October 2026. Late registrations will not be entertained.
03Problem Statement and Solution Development
- Teams must select their problem statement directly from the official portal before initiating development. The development window runs from 12 October to 26 October 2026.
- Technology Stack: No fixed stack is mandated. Teams may use any programming language, framework, database, or tool that best solves the problem statement, subject to any explicit challenge constraints noted on the portal.
- Repository Management: The Team Leader must create a private GitHub repository named after the team and add all members as collaborators.
- Iterative Commit Rule: Teams must commit code iteratively throughout the development window. A single final code dump or uploading code only at the last minute is strictly prohibited and serves as direct grounds for disqualification.
- Strict Submission Deadline: All source code commits must be finalized by 26 October 2026. Any commit pushed after this deadline will result in the immediate disqualification of the entire team.
04Solution Video Submission
- Every team must submit an explanation and demo video of 8–10 minutes (10 minutes maximum).
- The video must cover:
- The selected problem statement.
- Proposed architecture, key features, and technology stack.
- A demonstration of the working solution.
- A screen recording with a clear voice-over is completely acceptable; showing faces is optional.
- Drive Link & Permissions: Upload the video to your team’s Google Drive, grant Viewer access to hackathonccsubihar[at]gmail[dot]com, and submit the URL on the Hackathon portal before the 26 October 2026 deadline. Inaccessible or restricted links may lead to disqualification.
05Evaluation and Shortlisting
- An expert panel will evaluate video submissions based on problem relevance, innovation, technical architecture, functionality, and demonstration quality.
- A total of 25 teams will be shortlisted for the Grand Final.
- The official shortlist will be published on the Hackathon portal on 20 November 2026.
06Grand Final Guidelines
- Date: 27 November 2026
- The final round will be conducted online. The schedule and joining instructions will be communicated to shortlisted teams.
- Repository Ownership Transfer: Prior to the Grand Final, all shortlisted teams must transfer repository ownership to the organizers for in-depth code inspection, commit history auditing, and verification. Detailed transfer instructions will be sent to the qualified teams.
- Evaluation Scope: The Grand Final evaluation is based strictly on the codebase submitted before the 26 October deadline. Post-deadline code additions are prohibited.
- Team Defense: Teams must be ready to run their live solution, defend technical decisions, answer judges' questions, and test their application against alternate datasets provided on the spot.
- Member Participation: All team members must attend and be prepared to explain their individual contributions to the project.
- Hardware & Environment: Participants must have their own computer capable of running their software stack, a working webcam, a microphone, and a stable internet connection.
